Course Description
Pilates has never existed in a vacuum! Mr. Pilates was influenced by the physical culture of his day, and in later generations the Method absorbed influences from dance and fitness. Today, Pilates intersects and coexists with other forms of training (Yoga, Gymnastics, Primal Movement, Animal Flow, etc.) that use body weight as resistance to perform multi-joint movement with little or no equipment—broadly known as Calisthenics. In this Mat class, we’ll explore the overlap of Pilates with these other forms for a fun, vigorous workout that includes new exercise variations you can take with you into your own teaching.
