The Schedule
Course Description
Versions of the quote, “The more I learn, the less I know” have been attributed to thinkers from Aristotle to Tony Bennett. Competence in any field requires experience and knowledge, but also being comfortable with not knowing! For Pilates instructors, this means balancing confidence in our expertise with an attitude of openness and curiosity. This MSMS course is an opportunity for experienced teachers to cultivate practical tools for finding this balance in the Pilates studio.
The weekend will be organized around themes of:
Playing with structure vs. spaciousness in our exercise selection and class programming
Varying tempo, directionality and tension within an exercise to create options for each client to find their way to successful movement
Translating our anatomical knowledge into useful imagery
Increasing client autonomy through asking questions, directing attention and not getting “hooked” by narrative
Each day will offer a morning and afternoon movement session, lecture and discussion, and time to practice solo or in small groups. We will focus on applying insights from our own movement practice with an appreciation that we as teachers have our own baggage and biases!
This course is for any student who has taken a weekend-long MSMS curriculum course. If you have questions about whether you meet this requirement, please email us at [email protected].
* We reserve the right to cancel and refund your booking if you have not completed weekend-long MSMS curriculum course.
